The project consists of the refurbishment, extension and change of use of a detached single-family house for its transformation into a first cycle nursery school for children from 0 to 3 years of age. The intervention focused on the redefinition of the interior spaces, guaranteeing the safety, accessibility and comfort required for the children.
The exterior design adopted an educational and sensory approach, breaking with the original residential aesthetic. The façade incorporates a palette of bright, high-contrast colours, selected by the property based on studies on visual and cognitive stimulation in early childhood, creating an attractive and stimulating environment for children.
We sought to maximise the potential of the property through a carefully planned and functional design. The interior layout was reorganised to create spacious, open-plan classrooms, breakout areas and wet areas (toilets and changing facilities) with cross-visibility, facilitating supervision and safety for education staff.
Outside, the different areas were conditioned by installing continuous shock-absorbing rubber paving, transforming the old garden into a safe playground adapted to the needs of the youngest children.
